OEN Lightning Round Competition (Consolation Round)
On day three, the fifteen teams not chosen as finalists shift their focus to the OEN Lightning Round, where the quality of their teamwork and ability to adapt will be pushed to the limit. Without the use of props or visual aides, the teams make a “quick” pitch to a new panel of judges. The panel identifies strengths and deficiencies within each plan to leverage the strengths and fix the deficiencies. The challenge, Teams must do it all in fifteen minutes.
Presentation Scenario: A group of business executives and potential investors are available for a condensed pitch from your team. Visual aids are not allowed and your team is judged on their ability to focus, absorb feedback, and make adjustments to your plans “on the fly.”
Rules, Preparation & Requirements:
- Successfully execute a clear presentation; actively listen to feedback and insight; process as a team the relevant feedback and create a clear presentation on the key action points that will be required to successfully revise the plan, all in rapid succession.
- No PowerPoint, props, charts, or other support materials can be used in the presentation.
- Team will compete in one of five, three team concurrent tracks. One winner from each track will be selected by judges.
- During the 15-minute team adjustment period teams may access research information, related materials, laptop computers and other reference items.
- Only current student team members can actively participate. Faculty advisers are allowed to attend the presentation but MUST LEAVE during the 15-mintue team adjustment period.
- Poster-size Post-it Notes will be available for teams to craft their action step pitch.
- Judges will have reviewed the executive summary but will not have read the plan.
